The Shot that Changed My World

Still a vivid memory in my mind, the sun setting as I made way through Yellowstone National Park. I came across a group of deer grazing along the side of a river. I pulled over and started to walk around, my disposable pharmacy-store camera in hand, taking random pictures, hoping to get that one decent shot of the deer. I felt like Elmer Fudd tip-toeing toward Bugs Bunny, trying not to spook the woodland creature. While Elmer had many opportunities, he never got a “good shot” of Bugs Bunny, as the ”waskwally wabbit” always got the better of him. I was fortunate enough to get within about 10 feet of the deer and capture an amazing shot of nature that one rarely expects, and that too within the confines of Yellowstone National Park.

As with all of the pictures I had taken with a disposable camera, I crossed my fingers and hoped for something that might help me remember the brief moment in time. What I didn’t expect was for the picture to come out well as it did. This is what first inspired me to start nature and landscape photography as a hobby. The framed once-in-a-lifetime shot sits on the wall of my house as a reminder and an inspiration on they kinds of pictures I’m capable of. And frankly, so are you. It’s just a matter of faith and passion; faith in yourself and a passion for what you enjoy.

Travel Blog and Photography

American Yatrik isn't my first travel blog. Back in the early 2000's, during the height of my traveling career, I started a website and shared my traveling lifestyle, photography, and thoughts with a small group of interested friends. As my life changed with time, I let that site phase out. Hindsight being what it is, I probably missed out on a golden opportunity. Well, fast-forward to today. I'm back. And I'd like to pick up where I left off. Along with this site, I have photo-portal / store where you can also view my work and purchase the images that captivate and inspire you.
